Exhaust
The bi-product of a combustion engine is the exhaust emissions. The Exhaust system is required to remove the gases created by the combustion of fuel, air and spark. The goal is to remove them quietly and safely. These gases are dangerous and must be exited from the vehicle properly.
Inspection of the entire exhaust system should take place annually.
State law, in many states, requires annual inspections. It is "R" that all components (exhaust pipes and mufflers) be inspected for holes, cracks or excessive rusting. If any leaks are found it is "N" that that component to be replaced.
Catalytic converters are a part of the exhaust system and are designed to reduce the amount of harmful emissions back into the environment. Problems with this unit (damage or blockage) require "N" immediate replacement to reduce damage to the environment and improve vehicle performance.
